Simple and Time Efficient Morning Rituals
Mornings as a mom can feel chaotic— Getting the kids up, making breakfast or at least hoping they grab something to eat, and rushing everyone out the doo. In all the chaos, it’s SO easy to skip over yourself. But here’s the truth: when you start your day grounded and energized - everything else flows better.
The good news? Even the simplest rituals can set the tone for a more positive and energized day.
1. Start with Hydration
Before you grab coffee, drink a full glass of water (keep some water at bedside, to easily remember and grab). Your body gets dehydrated during the night, and rehydrating at the start of the day helps wake up the body, boost energy, and get our brain functioning.
2. Take 2–3 Minutes to Breathe
You don’t need a full meditation session (unless you want to). Simply taking a few minutes for a few deep breaths can get the oxygen flowing, calm your nervous system and help you feel grounded before the GO begins.
3. Move Your Body
Movement is key! If a full workout isn’t realistic for you in the mornings, trying 5–10 minutes of stretching, yoga, or play your favorite song and dance to it. Movement will energize you and improves your mood.
4. Nourish Yourself
It’s easy to forget to pack something for ourselves after we've helped everyone else pack their food. But having breakfast makes a big difference (at least for me it does) Food is fuel and I function better when I have nourished myself. You can keep it simple: with a smoothie, or prepping some overnight oats, or hard boiled eggs.
5. An affirmation for the Day
Before diving straight into your to-do list, pick an affirmation for the day: some quick choices are "I am statements" - I am amazing, I am a great mother, I am capable etc. Choosing a word or phrase can help guide your mindset through the ups and downs of the day and brings the wandering mind back to a focus.
Final Thought
Small rituals are often the most powerful ones because they are more likely for you to be consistent with. By taking just 10–15 minutes for yourself at the start of your day, you’re already practicing filling up your cup so you can show up as the best version of you. 🌿✨
